Debit, Credit and Amount fields in General Journals Entries page

Debit, Credit and Amount fields in General Journals Entries page

Since Dynamics NAV 2018 (and also in Dynamics 365 Business Central On-premise and Online), in the General Ledger Setup Page, there is a new option called “Show Amounts”.

There are three options:

  • Amounts (default)
  • Debit/Credit only
  • All Amounts

Question: I found an interesting Question\Issue in Dynamics NAV Community

“In my testing I have found that if I choose Debit/Credit or All Amounts, I cannot see any amounts on the General Journal Entry page.  Even after changing this setting back to Amounts, the default setting.

The only way I could re-add the Amount column to the Edit General Journal (Page 39) was to delete the user personalization.

Has anyone else run into this?  I can use Amount, but I prefer Debit/Credit in a journal entry, as do many of my clients”

Answer

“From my experience, when you choose one of the option of Amounts or Debit/Credit in Dynamics NAV 2018 (and in Dynamics 365 Business Central On-premise and Online), you will not be able to re-add these columns again in General Journal lines.

But if you choose “All Amounts“, you can customize the view from User personalization, therefore it will not be visible to users if you choose one of the previous options.”

  • Is ByDesign! Right!!

In Page 20 exist this function: “LOCAL_SetconrolVisibility()” which sets two global variables used as a condition of visibility in the fields of the page

AmountVisible := NOT (GLSetup.”Show Amounts” = GLSetup.”Show Amounts”::”Debit/Credit Only”);

DebitCreditVisible := NOT (GLSetup.”Show Amounts” = GLSetup.”Show Amounts”::”Amount Only”);
